M365 Backup Questions
Doesn't Microsoft already back up my data?
Microsoft provides service-level redundancy (geo-replication) and limited retention (deleted items for 14-30 days). This is not the same as backup. Ransomware, malicious deletion, and ex-employee data loss are not covered.
How quickly can you restore data?
Individual items (emails, files) can be restored within minutes. Full mailbox or site restores depend on size but typically complete within hours.
How long is backup data retained?
Standard retention is configurable - typically 1-7 years depending on your compliance requirements. We document retention policies during onboarding.
Is this included in managed IT plans?
M365 backup is $8.95 per mailbox per month, separate from managed IT plan pricing. We recommend it for all M365 clients.
